Aegea - Knight of Life and Death

Description

Here's something new I've been working on.

I doubt I'll be doing any more on it so I think this's a fairly postable state for the picture~

Aegea is a character that sort of started as me trying to help a friend refine a character, and somehow it spun off into some completely different character rather neatly integrated into my story with very little in common other than the VERY initial premise:

"A 7ft succubus of Royal lineage named Aegea. EXTREMELY eccentric as succubi go, and her sense of fashion is VERY fancy as succubi go."

I think the outfit works for both versions, but then when you start getting into things like hair color, eye color, skin color... the characters converge quite a bit. But, I'll focus on the version I came up with then, haha. Since, y'know, she kinda took on a life of her own when I started working with her.

Her typical "lounging" outfit is the kind of "Dressy" where you're not sure if she's getting ready for bed or getting ready for dinner.

She's a very friendly person, but I say she's "eccentric" because she's... ..NOT obsessed with sex. Given her species, it's on her mind certainly, but it's not her obsession. She came to the conclusion long ago that there are more interesting and fulfilling things than sex, such as love and family, but she's had trouble finding someone to settle down with. One might question if a succubus can "Settle down", but.. she can. She just needs to find the right man. (..Probably should be immortal like a demon or angel or something though, but yeah) She's "eccentric" because contrary to the belief that succubi are sex-crazed nymphomaniacs who would do Slaanesh proud in the hedonism department, Aegea's MUCH more mellow, and actually desires meaningful relationships. A common conclusion to come to, just perhaps from the Succubus perspective it's not so common.

I actually never expected to integrate Succubi into my story because in large part in the story (I think based on something a friend told me once about history) they're a misnomer, because the original translation was "Storm Demon" not "Night Demon", and... In my story, all Storm Demons originated with a woman who Nagala is the reincarnation of. (Who, also looks just about identical to Nagala, but there's plenty of story reasons, haha) Succubi are nearly the same, except they're a slight derivation from Storm Demons. "Corrupted Cousins" of sorts. There may be some genetic differences, but for the most part they're the same species, while Succubi earned a reputation based on a single aspect of the Storm Demon condition.

In any case... Aegea is also "eccentric" in the traditional sense as well. She's a bit of a tech junkie and greatly enjoys magic and engineering-related things, and going along with her "electric" theme, she's more or less modified herself through complex runic engineering she's applied to her own body to turn herself into a biological android of sorts -- She can change and reconfigure almost any aspect of her internal biochemistry by accessing a holographic "control panel" of sorts by holding her hand to the blue spot just below her tummy. (..though for a perhaps embarrassing and also rather erotic tone, she looks a little like she's holding her hand to her tummy like she's newly expecting or something when she does it ^^; )

Backstory:
Aegea's life, unfortunately, like many of the characters in my story, hasn't had the happiest of pasts.
She believes Succubi are viewed as glorified sex escorts by her home culture, and doubts that she'll ever be taken seriously for her research, to forever be viewed only as "eccentric" by the people she interacts with. ....These thoughts don't bother her most of the time, but she doesn't have an overly positive opinion of how her kind is viewed in her home country. (This may or may not even be correct: It is just the view Aegea has developed over time, perhaps also due to her occasional bouts of loneliness -- which might also be part of her draw to participating in "Succubus-like" activities)

In more recent times, Aegea had the unfortunate luck of crossing paths with a tyrannical demon warlord / necromancer by the name of Melinoth. (Read: arch-nemesis of several of the main characters, and one of the story's first antagonists once it gets rolling) Melinoth fancied Aegea as a woman he could play around with, and when Aegea, completely unsurprisingly, rejected his forceful "request", Melinoth forced her upon himself against her will.

To show the kind of utter creep Melinoth is, when Aegea rejected his sexual advances, he abducted her, and then technically killed her and revived her with necromantic tools to make her his slave. He did it in such a way that she wouldn't technically be "undead" though, as Melinoth had no intention of his morsel rotting on him -- that would defeat her purpose. No, instead he removed her life force, implanted her with necromantic control apparatuses that would render her little more than a flesh doll (she's "alive", but cannot control her body) and then revived her as a prize for himself.

To Melinoth's surprise however, Aegea possessed an IMMENSELY strong will, and though Melinoth did not know it at the time, she fought off his control mechanisms and over time she regained more and more of her own free will back, a little at a time.

In this time however, Aegea was basically a prisoner inside her own body. She was fully conscious at all times, but her body would listen to Melinoth, not her. So it was like she was rarely (if ever) in direct control of her own body. Her advances against the mechanisms however started to allow her to "regain" some of her "authority" over her body, however...

When it occurred to Melinoth that she could move on her own but the devices prevented her from disobeying him in any way, he demonstrated himself all the cruel bastard that he was and is and gave her an old set of armor and made her his new top lieutenant -- A servant incapable of remorse if he orders it, and a creature incapable of disobeying him, even if the order seems impossible. He also forced her to use her powers, normally used for more life-magic-y means, to instead perform acts of necromancy as she acted as a general to legions of undead, many of which she had to raise herself from the corpses of those fallen from past battles.

Aegea fulfilled this role for a time, but as her free will grew, with it grew her "creativity", and when she approached him over the matter, Melinoth granted her permission to augment her armor as Melinoth found it highly amusing that she would seek to make her armor even more deadly and ruthless than it was before by augmenting it with adding robotic limbs.
Over time, Aegea continued to modify her armor until her suit rather began to resemble a robotic dragonoid. In this form, every limb was a weapon -- even her wings. she had four bladed "tentacles" descending from her shoulderplates, a draconic tail that attached to an apparatus she mounted to the back of her suit that interfaces with her nervous system, a second pair of arms ending in energy blade claws (though I suppose they kind of blend in with the wings ^^; ) and a pair of rather impressive energy wings that can either allow flight or be used as massive Kerrigan-like claw energy blades depending on her mood.

What Melinoth never knew however (or, she HOPED he never knew) was that she made all of these modifications so that when the time came that she could break his will, she wanted to be able to inflict as much damage against Melinoth as possible -- even kill him if she could.

Thankfully, this plan wasn't to come to pass because shortly before the "starting events" of my main storyline, Aegea makes mental contact with a certain demi-god, whose power over the astral plane was absolute enough that "untangling" her essence from Melinoth's apparatuses and removing said apparatuses wasn't a particularly difficult task...  Aegea is freed, taken into the care of a secret organization who isn't exactly in support of Melinoth, and is introduced to Nagala and the rest on the belief that she would get along very well with them. (So Aegea kind of becomes a part of the main group)

Aegea keeps her armor but her savior assures that it is first purified of any taint or lingering control from Melinoth, as Aegea adapts her armor -- previously her prison, to instead be a conduit for her power. "Overwriting bad memories with good" is a motto for Aegea in the group, as she takes the things that once caused her pain and repurposed them so as to purge herself of her pain in a more healthy manner, instead of just burying it all.

After the events of the story stabilize a bit, Aegea joins up with a mechanical/magical research lab created by her savior, and she delves quite a bit into magical/mechanical/biological interfaces as her love of machinery and cybernetic limbs blossoms into constructing Gundam-like mecha.

..For some reason it just strikes me as awesome that a woman nearly tall enough to look like a small mecha herself if put in a robosuit armor were to become a mecha pilot :3

In any case, yeah. Happy going forward for Aegea: She finds people who not only take her seriously, but encourage her and share her passion for invention.

I suppose it's been quite some time since I've posted some digitally colored stuff here, so I hope this will appease some desires in that regard.
(...Not that there's anything wrong with liking to do sketches >w>; Colored pictures take too long, and by the time I'm done I could've done several sketches and improved a bunch more XD; I guess I feel like I need to work on my sketching more than my coloring, but who knows D: )

I hope you all enjoy~
