Description

Aah, nothing like working on coloring a lineart you've been wanting to finish and seeing things go well to boost your spirits, eh?

It's mean, but I actually really wish I could edit out Yiradae's husband from this portrait. It's because I'm just really happy with how this is coming along since I started following the coloring style of this picture I saw that just PERFECTLY conveyed the type of vibe I wanted Yiradae to have.

I'll probably update this picture later. Either that or post a new Portrait with the finished two.

Oh yeah. And I think Yiradae's guy's skin is way darker than I had in mind. His people are supposed to have like... .. this kinda tan latino color. I think he looks a *tiny* bit too dark for that.

I don't really know how to convey it, but Yiradae is supposed to basically have this vivid bright blue hair. Sort of imagine if Nagala's or Misara's hair was blue and I think you'll have an idea for the kind of color tone I want to give her.

Edit: Aah, I figured out the trick for creating a nice vivid blue, but I'll update the image later.
It's basically like this: Pure blue in terms of RGB is actually a dark color. ...At least as my eyes see it. But if you want to lighten it up a bit without sacrificing saturation, shifting down the color wheel toward Cyan helps very nicely. ...Which makes sense actually. In the RGB scale, Cyan is technically an even mix of blue and green, but to me Cyan has always *basically* looked like a light blue. So if you want a nice vivid blue that isn't super dark but also isn't cyan, you should pick a color somewhere between those two colors.
...So in other words I guess, the color we normally associate with "blue" is actually half way between "Cyan" and "Blue"
